Solutions for Smallworld Users

FME's spatial ETL platform has long enabled users to move data in and out of GE Smallworld GIS. Many Smallworld customers also benefit from the ability to extend the format reach of the Smallworld Spatial Object Manager.

With FME, Smallworld users can take advantage of two solutions:

FME Desktop for Smallworld

FME Desktop for Smallworld is a spatial ETL toolset that makes it easy for you to easily move data in and out of a Smallworld GIS. Use it to convert and load data from over 200 formats into Smallworld 3.x or 4.x VMDS, as well as to restructure data for exporting into the precise formats and data models requested by CAD and GIS users across your organization. You can also use FME to validate and migrate data from legacy systems into Smallworld. Plus, for Smallworld SOM users, FME also integrates directly with the SOM to extend its format reach, eliminating the need to translate the data beforehand.

FME Server for Smallworld

With FME Server, you can efficiently share Smallworld data with users – where, how and when they need it. FME Server integrates with Smallworld Internet Application Server (SIAS) to power a wide variety of data integration and distribution initiatives, for example:

  • Uploading data to Smallworld via the web, while performing QA checks
  • Publishing translations, with parameters, to the web for remote, self-service processing
  • Streaming Smallworld data over the web in popular formats like KML, GeoRSS and more
  • Enabling users to request and download Smallworld data in the format and projection of their choice
